A lot of time is spent in your car, going back and forth to work, ferrying your children to school and other activities, running errands. Driving is a necessity, but have you considered that it can also be a great stress reliever?
During the 1950s and 1960s, it was customary for the family to pile into the car on Sunday after church and go for a leisurely drive simply for the pleasure of watching the scenery go by, being together, and perhaps happening on a new picnic place or lookout point. In these times of frenetic activity and topped-out gas prices, however, we seem to have forgotten how relaxing and therapeutic a drive can be. You might say it allows you the freedom and opportunity to take a mini-vacation just by buckling up and heading away from the house.
When you're feeling stressed out, boxed in, and short on options, a change of scenery helps you get things into perspective. On any day of the week, there's nothing like a Sunday drive, just for the wonder of it.
